In this page you can find some of my photography trips and short list of species that have been recorded.
August 07-09 2010 Eskişehir Trip We spent 2 days at the magnificent mountains of Eskisehir. The weather was hot but in the early morning and before sunset we managed to take some good shots of Black Vultures. At midnight we searched for Williams Jerboa (Allactaga williamsi) for a while and we found 5-6 individuals. I will upload the images soon. May 08 2010 Gerede - BOLU Trip We hit the road to Gerede around 01:00. When we arrived we looked for the vultures but there was no sign of them. We photographed many Red-Footed Falcon's throught out the day. We also had the chance to observe and photograph 2 crossbills. April 29 - May 02 2010 Eastern Rhodopes - BULGARIA Trip We visited the Madjorovo -Eastern Rhodopes for the Griffon Vultures. In our 4 day trip we had chance to observe and photograph many Griffons, Black and Egyptian Vultures. One time there were 80 Griffon individuals in front of us. Seeing and observing these giants from such a close distance was very exciting. Our guide and also friend Burak Doğansoysal from Ecologic Travel was very helpful. Also the local guides Dimiter Georgiev (Managing director and tour leader) Dimitar Gradinarov (Saker Falcon Conservation Officer), Marin Kurtev (Manager of Nature Conservation Center Eastern Rhodopes) were very friendly and helpful. September 27 2009 Gerede - BOLU Trip We hit the road to Bolu for the Black Vultures but we couldn’t manage to get decent images because they were keeping their distance no matter what we did. Their numbers were nearly 30 individuals. We also observed a yound White-Tailed Eagle. It was a fine day for raptor observation but not a good one for photography. August 14 2009 Gerede - BOLU Trip Ekrem Yanık , Mehmet Zenginer and I went to Gerede to photograph the birds of prey. We observed Imperial Eagles both adults and juveniles. Many Long-Legged Buzzards, Black Vultures and Kestrels. We also saw 3 individuals of wolves which 2 of them were cubs. We met Associate Professor Ahmet Karatas from Nigde University and joined us for a great lunch and talk.Also our guide Menderes Atay and friend Ayhan Öztürk was with us. June 16 - 19 2009 Acıgöl - DENİZLİ Camp Ekrem Yanık and I made a 3 day camp in the magnificent nature of Denizli. Okan Kocyigit joined and guided us around Lake Acigol. All the species we photographed were beautiful and the diversity of wildlife was plenty. We captured nearly 30GB’s of photographs. Some of the species that we observed :

January 18 2009 Kıyıköy - KIRKLARELİ Trip We hit the road early in the morning to Kıyıköy. The weather and the light was very good for photography. When we arrived to Kıyıköy we found a Long-Tailed Duck which is a very rare species for the Turkish region. We couldn’t get very close to him but we managed to take some decent photos. We were able to photograph many good Cormorant pictures. January 16 2009 Yeniçağa/Gerede - BOLU Trip When we arrived to Yenicaga the time was 4:30 AM and the outside temperature was -18 celcius ( -0,4F) After a short nap we set our hide near a carcass hoping some predators to come near by. We were out of luck to get quality images from the hide. After 5 hours of waiting, the cold got worse and we head back to the car for some hot coffee. We searched the area by car for a little while and saw a White-Tailed Eagle. Before heading back home we stopped by Lake Yenicaga and we walked on the frozen lake. December 13 2008 Karaburun - İSTANBUL Trip The weather was very cloudy but we wanted to be out so we went to Karaburun. We walked around the shore near Karaburun Harbour. I saw a small bird that I couldn’t identify so I asked Ekrem but he also didn’t recognize it. The bill of the bird was smilar to the bunting species. We started to photograh right away. While taking pictures I managed to look up the bird on the internet and found that it was a Snow Bunting. We were so happy to see a Snow Bunting because it is a vagrant/accidental bird that can not be seen in Turkiye. It was the 1st record from Istanbul and 9th from Turkiye. November 23 2008 Durusu - İstanbul Trip We heard about the Nutcracker in Durusu in the middle of the week so this weekend we went to see and photograph this rare bird. After searching the last seen area for a while we found and took some decent images. Just before leaving the we saw a second Nutcracker and took some more photos. We drove to Karaburun Harbour for lunch but we saw an albino Cormorant. It was eating with the other Cormorants and showed no sign of sickness. November 14 2008 Poyrazlar Lake - Sakarya Trip Our original destination was the Kocaeli shoreline but the light and weather was terrible. We decided to go up north for the Poyrazlar Lake. July 20 - 21 2008 Enez - Edirne Trip Our 2 day trip to Enez, we photographed a lot of Black-winged stilts and Glossy Ibis’es. In the early mornings we watched hundreds of these birds. As always the couple of White-Tailed Eagles showed themselves but from far away. Also we observed many Spoonbills, Ringed Plovers, Little Ringed Plovers, Kentish Plovers, Longed-Legged Buzzards, many species of terns and Egrets in lake Gala. June 24 2007 Nallıhan - Beypazarı - Mogan Trip Our usual team me, Ekrem Yanık, Hakan Perek and Cengiz Çelik started our trip from Istanbul at 2 AM. We arrived our first stop Nallıhan, at about 5 AM in the morning. When we get out of the cars the bird flocks started to pass just from above us. Many Night Herons and Little Egrets are going to the Sarıyar dam in a hurry. Just after them 20-30 Black Kites started to pass. Nallihan is a very popular spot for Bird watching and photographing if you visit at the right time. Just araound 11:00 we hit the road to Beypazarı for the Egyptian Vultures. When we arrived to our destination first thing is to eat the special Beypazarı breakfast. After the quick breakfast we drove to the hills to find the Vultures. We saw many adults and juveniles of the Egyptian Vulture that day. After taking photographs, we again hit the road to Ankara for Lake Mogan. Around 2 PM we arrived to Ankara. Kamil Öge joined and guided us through Lake Mogan. We continue to photograph many birds as Mehmet Hanay joined us. Lake Mogan made all of us verry happy with its suprises. After Lake Mogan we stopped by the place with many Lesser Kestrels and shot many photographs of them. Our trip ended at 8 PM as the sun started to fade...
